Dance Audition Dates
Tryouts Have already passed for 2025-2026 school year. Check again for future details.
Students should have had one or more years of dance experience in jazz, contemporary, or hip-hop technique. Auditions will consist of a basic skills test, intermediate skills test, and a center combination. Students will be placed based on technical accuracy, style/performance qualities, knowledge, memory, and work ethic.
Advanced Dance
Advanced members should have three or more years of dance experience in jazz, contemporary, or ballet. Auditions will consist of a skills test, and a combination taught and performed on the same day. You will be assessed on pirouettes, jumps, as well as your knowledge and style of the combination learned.
Hamilton Junior Company
Junior Company Dance members should have five or more years of dance experience in jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop. Auditions will consist of a skills test, two combinations (jazz and hip hop) and turns. You will be assessed on a triple pirouette, fouette/a la seconde combinations, and knowledge/style of combinations learned. A limited number of auditioners could result in students being placed in either Hamilton Dance Company or Advanced.
Hamilton Dance Company
Team/Company members should have strongly developed knowledge of jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop. You should be able to learn and memorize quickly, understand dynamics in movement choice, perform triple or more pirouettes, have strong leaps/jumps, advanced a la seconde combinations, kip up, head spring, aerial, and extentions/flexability. Auditions will consist of a skills test, learning two combinations, and performing a solo of your original choreography on the last day of tryouts. The solo should be no more than 1:30 in length and showcase your choreography and all of your skills/tricks as a dancer. The company competes locally and nationally and goes to camp each summer.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO JOIN HAMILTON DANCE, YOU DO NOT NEED TO AUDITION, JUST SIGN UP FOR BEGINNING DANCE. DANCE IS OPEN TO BOYS AND GIRLS IN 9TH - 12TH GRADE. YOU CAN GET YOUR PE, FINE ARTS, AND ELECTIVE CREDITS FULFILLED THROUGH DANCE IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO TAKE IT ALL FOUR YEARS.Tryout Results
